New Official Music Albums Releasing at Disney Parks on August 20, 2013

I love the music of Disney Parks! My first encounter with Disney Parks music was the 33 ½ long playing record featuring the music of EPCOT Center that I got after my first trip in July 1983. I think the music of EPCOT Center is some of the most beautiful theme park music ever recorded (fingers crossed for a complete boxed set one day). My obsession (let’s call it what it is) with Disney Parks music only increased in subsequent years after that first trip. During family visits in the early 1990s, I would place my gigantic video camera next to speakers in the Parks just to record the wonderful sounds.

With all this talk of music from the Parks, I’m happy to announce that the 2013 Official Albums will be coming to Disney Parks on August 20. These two CD sets contain music from Disneyland and Walt Disney World Resorts. They will be released at multiple Disney Parks merchandise locations in California and Florida. You will also be able to find them as digital downloads at the Disney Music Store. Look for Disney Gift Cards for the music store in select merchandise locations.

What is your favorite Disney Parks song? I’d have to choose “The Tiki, Tiki, Tiki Room.” Sing along with me…

Comments

  • Where can we purchase the background music playing at Epcot? This is the music we hear as we walk though the park.

  • It’s great to have new Disneyland Resort music tracks for this latest release.

Will there be a 60th Anniversary of A Musical History of Disneyland with more tracks and complete compilations?

  • What happened to the song “Veggie fruit fruit veggie veggie fruit fruit, there are no substitutes for veggie fruit fruit”? Does anyone else remember that song? It was around in the 80’s. That is my favorite song from Disney!

  • We just got back from a trip to Disneyland and nobody had any idea what we were talking about, not even at the music store. While we can just go download it, we were really hoping for a physical copy.

  • Will this soon be available for UK customers at the moment its only in the US iTunes and on Amazon

  • You say we can get them on Amazon, does that mean download or actual CD? Thank you.

  • Not sure if my last post posted or not, but if it didn’t and you are having trouble finding the downloads on the Disney Music Store site, type in either Disneyland or Walt Disney World in the search and they will pull up. For some reason, they haven’t been or aren’t listed in the Newest Releases.

  • I just went over to disneymusicstore and I couldn’t find either albums for digital download. Your blog entry stated August 20th, and yet I cannot locate them. Please assist?

  • Will we be able to get this in the UK? Currently there is nothing on amazon.co.uk or the British iTunes Store and we can’t access the Disney Music Store here. We won’t be back in WDW until 2015 which is a long time to wait 🙁

  • You said that the new CD of the music of the Disney parks released today 8/20 would be available on iTunes and Amazon. I have just checked BOTH and it is not there. Please help! My son and I just returned from a week at Disney and would love to have the music as a audio ‘souvenir’ of our trip. THANKS ☺

  • Just looked on Disney Park Music website can not find them. So far I can only find Disneyland on Itunes. Thanks for any help.

  • Steven, Just tried the store, but I couldn’t find any mention of the park soundtrack. Was there a change of plans?

  • Will the album be available on eMusic, as many other Walt Disney Records releases are?

  • Hi Steve. I was wondering if you had the product codes for these CDs if we wanted to try to order them through the merchandise hotline. I know it is easier to order when you have the product code. Many thanks in advance if you have them.

  • I am looking forward to this album! Always great when Walt Disney World and Disneyland release new CDs and music! I wish it was more often! There are soo many fans who love and enjoy the music from the parks! Area music, attractions, shows, parades! New and Old!
From Disneyland I would love to see: World of Color, perhaps the upcoming Winter Dreams! Pixar Play Parade, Soundsational, The highly missed Walt Disney’s Parade of Dreams!, A Christmas Fantasy, Sleeping Beauty’s Winter Castle.
From Walt Disney World: Celebrate A Dream Come True Parade, Move It Shake It Celebrate It, Updated Main Street Electrical Parade, Celebrate The Magic!, Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Parade, Once Upon A Christmas Time, Cinderella’s Holiday Wish!
    Just to name a few!!

  • Count me among those who will be glad to buy this album – but who would be even more glad to buy numerous albums from a larger and more diverse collection of Disney Parks music and audio, with less repetition of the same material between them. The Cars Land and Circle Sessions albums are great (if unnecessarily abridged) examples of this. The Disney Parks audio collector market may be relatively small, but it’s dedicated. Sell the material and we’ll buy it!

  • Too bad the Canadian residents can’t access the Disney music store …. Is there some way we can get those CD? Thanks.

  • I’m very, very excited about this. My wife and I have been collecting Disney music since we were married. We’ve made many custom playlists, combining all the music we have into a true Walt Disney World bonanza.

I am wondering what the track “Hot Potato” is from? I feel like I should know, but I am totally blanking out.

  • I would LOVE to see the song from “Move It, Shake It, Celebrate It” on a CD somewhere!

  • I agree: a collection that has all the most popular parades, fireworks and nighttime show music would truly be a grand idea!

  • Will the Amazon sale be a physical CD or music download as well? I have a collection of these CDs myself, and while I appreciate the music download, I would prefer the physical CD for keepsake reasons…

Please note that there is a HUGE market for Disney Park music, and I agree with many of the others here that simply repackaging and reissuing old CDs with a few new tracks may be a great way to ensure repeat purchases, but it doesn’t help those of us who are Disney audiophiles…

At one point, the parks had stations where you could burn your own CD filling it with whatever park music interested you. I would urge a return to this kind of interaction (or perhaps allowing guests to purchase tracks online which interest them).

    Thanks for listening to me…

    • @Daniel – Thank you for the comments and feedback. I will share with the respective teams. My wallet and I recall the Walt Disney World Forever kiosks that were at Downtown Disney long ago. I acquired many, many tracks from those kiosks. Unfortunately, I don’t know of any plans for such kiosk to return. I would say that the concept seems to have evolved to digital downloads like the kind you can find on http://disneymusicstore.com. It’s funny to think that at the time those kiosks were around, digital downloads were such a futuristic idea. 🙂

  • Oh boy — Its so hard to pick just one favorite!!!! I’ve managed to pick 4 but I could so pick many more….. Let’s see at Disneyland it would have to be the Space Mountain theme. And at WDW the very best one is “One Little Spark” because I adore Figment (as I am sure many others do) and “There’s a Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow” and “Impressions of France”

  • Yet another request for the World of Color soundtrack here. If nothing else, what about the opening song? WoC is my favorite show & I would be in heaven if I could just listen to the music at work whenever I wanted to. I can close my eyes and picture the whole show…

  • I like the option that these CDs are going to be available on iTunes and Amazon. I hope, that I can get these in the German iTunes Store or oder it to Germany from amazon.

  • My fave Disney Park song of all time is from the Country Bear Jamboree. It is “Mama, Don’t Whup Little Buford”!!!!! Every time it starts up during the show, i just have to sing right along. It is short, but sweet. And so very funny and sarcastic!!! Love it!!!

  • I am very happy to hear about this new set. I will be going to Disneyland in September so will be able to pick that one up. Will have to figure out a way to get the WDW version as well.

I am very glad to see other comments asking about a World of Color CD. I too would like one of those. I hope there will also be a release of Soundsational from Disneyland since that has become a house hold favorite. Mark Hammond is a true delight to the ears!

  • Wonderful news, Steven – I’ve been looking forward to new Official Albums for a long time. The Cast Members at the 20th Century Music Shop will be glad to hear that I’ll no longer be asking them for news on a new album!

I have to echo some of the earlier comments about being disappointed that music from the parades and shows from Disneyland, like Soundsational and World of Color, isn’t on the new Official Album. If you could pass the word along to the Merchandise team that there are a lot of Disneyland fans that would love to see a CD with music from the parades and shows, that’d be great!

    • @Paul – Glad to share the news! Thank you for the comments. I will be sure to pass them along to the development teams.

  • A COMPLETE Park Music would be great, the Music for Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride is amazing, I would just stand there letting people pass just to listen. Consider Toady, and I mean EVERY musical piece, from the Toad Hall music to the instrumental Merrily Song that plays as well.

  • I can’t wait to buy it in Disney next year! and I wonder the sound track is for the new test track?

  • @rama fantasmic is on its own cd with the electrical parade

  • Wow, what a great set of comments! I bet Steven didn’t expect quite this many comments and questions!

I love the park music. Nothing is better for relaxing during a bout of insomnia than Disney Park Music! My request for the future: a CD of BGM – Disney Park BackGround Music. My favorites are the music at the entrance to EPCOT and the Innoventions background music. As for the CD above, “Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow”. It matches my optimism, and I can actually sing in that key!

    • @Steven – Indeed! It’s great knowing that there are other fans who are just as passionate as me. Keep the comments coming as I love them!!

  • I must say that I’m very excited about this. I crave Walt Disney World music on my commute to and from work!!
