In recent months, I have shared details about many of the innovative and creative merchandise products that will immerse guests and connect them like never before to Pandora – The World of Avatar. Today, I’m happy to announce a new way guests can create a truly unique memento at ACE Avatar Maker inside Windtraders. I caught up with Cody Hampton, merchandise product developer, who shared how this experience is connected to this exciting new land.

“We were inspired by the breathtaking Avatar Flight of Passage attraction when designing ACE Avatar Maker,” explained Cody. “During the attraction, guests are connected with an avatar for first-person flight on a banshee over the moon’s incredible landscape. We thought guests would love to see what they actually look like as a human/Na’vi hybrid. Using a digital process, guests can now create and personalize their own avatar action figure.”

At ACE Avatar Maker, the natural feel of Windtraders gives way as guests step into a futuristic transformation booth. Guests are greeted by an Alpha Centauri Expedition Scan Technician who uses a state-of-the-art, facial capture scanner to enter data into the Hybrid Digitizing System.

After an image is captured, guests select their avatar’s body style from four different choices. Both youth and adult sizes are offered. They also choose eye color, facial striping pattern, and hairstyle.

Throughout the experience, the technician shares interesting details about the Na’vi. For example, Na’vi naturally have yellow eyes; or the Na’vi gene for dark hair is so strong that it is always dominant in the creation of an avatar.

Once the customization process is completed, guests receive an ACE identification tag. This keepsake card is used about 30 minutes later at the ACE Avatar Maker Fabricator inside Windtraders where guests receive their completed action figures. Cody told me the packaging was inspired by the Amnio tank that is seen in the Avatar Flight of Passage queue.

We also offer four accessory sets that can be used with the poseable action figures.

Reservations are required for this experience, and can be made on a first-come, first-serve basis inside Windtraders.

Comments

  • My granddaughter got a personal Avatar and was disappointed she couldn’t get a tools accessory. Is there one available?

  • My father & daughter has avatars made 9/18/17. My daughter left the bag in restroom at airport, we went straight back in and someone had taken both dolls & put the Disney bag in the garbage. Is there anyway to have the dolls remade?

  • We did the avatar and my son picked a hairstyle but his figure does not have the hairstyle he selected. I know it is not the same one because i was the one that made the selection and submission from him. We got to the hotel and noticed the hairstyle does not match what he selected. What can be done in this case?

  • Hello. I was wondering where I can purchase the shirt the boy is wearing in the photos? Also, is it available for adults and the price? Thank you.

  • I created my own avatar, but the face of the avatar figure I got doesn’t look like the face I saw on the screen when my face was scanned, I’m little disappointed since I spent $80 for it because I thought it was memorable and it was a lot of money for me…

  • This may seem a daft question i have a really good beard on my face would that be a problem for the scan of my face? And would it work as well?

  • What is the latest reservation time daily for this experience?

    • @Brayson – Reservations are made on a first-come, first-serve basis at Windtraders. Reservations would start from the time the shop opens which may vary. I would refer to Park Hours on the My Disney Experience app for the latest operating hours.

  • It is possible to make an action figure by a photo?

    • @Manuel – ACE Avatar Maker is an in-person experience. We do not offer a photo option at this time.

  • There is no discounts for any Pandora World of Avatar merchandise at this time. Pandora World of Avatar is just awesome. Worth every bit the wait for the last 3 years watching it go up. The river ride is so spectacular with an amazing Animatronic at the end. I will be sailing down this river ever week for a while. However, make sure you can fit in the Banshee ride before waiting 2 to 3 hours in line. This ride was built for an average size person only. If you are really large or really tall, you will not fit and not be allowed on. So check before you wait. Just ask any quest service person to show you the seat you will be sitting in as they have one outside under the floating mountain. They are not that great about telling you this up front and many people waited over 3 hours on the opening weekend only to be turned away once they were at the entrance of the ride. So check before you wait or blow a fast pass on it.

  • Two question. Can you make a reservation by phone? Do all members who want a figure have to be present at time of reserving a time slot?

    • @Brayson – Reservations can be made in person at Windtraders on a first-come, first-serve basis. We unfortunately do not offer an option for making reservations by phone. You can make a reservation for others, but they will need to be present during the actual experience.

  • Yeahh ill pass.75 dollars will buy too many pizzas for that price.

  • Do AP get a discount at windtraders for this action figure? If so, how much?

    • @Melani – Unfortunately, discounts are not offered on the ACE Avatar Maker experience.

  • Even though I have never seen Avatar or have any desire to see it or cared Avatar Land was coming to WDW, I have been blown away by what Disney has done. This has got to be the coolest souvenir that you can get anywhere! I don’t know if I’m in the minority but I don’t think $75 is a bad price for the unique one of kind item you are getting. Disney rocks!

  • Wow, that’s cool.

  • The cost to become an action figure?

    • @Debbie – Retail for the action figure is $74.99. The accessory sets have a retail of $14.99 each.
