First Look: Head Inside Gaston’s Tavern in New Fantasyland at Magic Kingdom Park

Today we have a look inside New Fantasyland that’s sure to please our “Beauty and The Beast” fans – the first photos from within Gaston’s Tavern!

Our wonderful Disney photographers were recently allowed a sneak peek photoshoot in Belle’s Village, which is home to both Gaston’s Tavern and Bonjour! Village Gifts. Here’s a gallery of images that Photographers David Roark and Gene Duncan came back with.

Gaston’s Tavern will serve Le Fou’s Brew, a no-sugar added frozen apple juice with a hint of toasted marshmallow, plus cinnamon rolls and a few other menu items that our Food Author Pam Brandon will share later today on the Disney Parks Blog. (Check back around lunchtime today for this update!) When it comes to other snacks available in this area, it looks like guests will also be able to purchase popcorn from Maurice’s Amazing Popping Machine, another one of Belle’s father’s unique inventions, no doubt.

And speaking of Gaston, you’ll be able to meet and greet this “man among men” yourself in New Fantasyland when the area opens in preview phase beginning November 19.

Have questions about these locations and other attractions coming to New Fantasyland? Don’t forget to attend our behind-the-scenes live chat with Imagineer Chris Beatty on Monday, October 15, at 2 p.m. EDT, right here on the Disney Parks Blog.

  • Our family is visiting next August. Can’t wait!!

    • It will be amazing! Congrats on your upcoming trip.

  • Hi Jennifer, Any way to find out if the new fantasy land will be open October 24 or 27th? Will our resort staff know the morning of? This is my first trip with a 3 and 6 yr old Ariel fans and I’d love to make the trip the best for my daughters 🙂 please share how we can learn more. Thank you

    • I honestly think you’ll have to wait until you are in the park to find out. I don’t know if the schedule of dress rehearsals is communicated to the resorts or not…especially since the attractions may operate in such limited capacity due to filmings that are going on over there. Best of luck!

  • Are there any plans for Rapunzel to be in any restaurants or more character greetings? We were there in March and there was only 1 location for Rapunzel with a line always 2 hours long and only limited times throughout the day. There was no where else to see her in any restaurants, etc. We are planning to return in 2013 (probably March) and this is my daughter’s favorite character but we were never able to see her.

    • The easiest way to locate a character during any specific date on your vacation will be to consult the Times Guide when you arrive at the park. Pick one up where you pick up a Guide Map. That will have the most up-to-date location of any character meet and greets available.

  • I will be traveling to Disney World on Nov. 26 – Dec. 3 and was wondering which parts of Fantasyland might be able to be viewed?

    • It will be in Preview Period at that time. This means that most New Fantasyland attractions should be in operation, but may experience limited operating hours.

  • Saw it yesterday!! It was awesome!!! I love Fantasyland even more now!!

    • Awesome. I’m so happy you liked it, Cole.

  • Jennifer I saw online pictures of the invitations in a book form for the New Fantasyland. I would love to have one for my fiance and surprise her, we recieved the pass holder invite via e-mail but it isn’t nearly as special as the story book. Is there any way we can find it.

    • That storybook is a part of the Dec. 6 Press Event invitation that was mailed out to members of the media, so it is not sold anywhere (that I know of).

  • I will be arriving in WDW tomorrow (Sunday the 14th) and I’d really love to know if any of the New Fantasyland areas will still be open! Ariel and Belle are my two absolute favorite princesses. Any insight?

  • He uses antlers in all of his decorating….

    • Seriously!

  • What a fantastic addition to Fantasyland. I absolutely cannot wait to eat there and explore the entire area during WDW Marathon Weekend! I was there in mid-July, but boy have you all come a long way! I love using my Liberty Tree Tavern mugs at home. I see the mugs pictured at Gaston’s Tavern. Are guests going to be able to buy them as souvenirs? I hope so! Thanks for sharing Jennifer (what a job)!

    • Correct. You can check out a variety of merchandise available in this area in Steven’s post from late Friday: http://bit.ly/QW8UuO

  • We’ll be there Nov 6th and we would like to know too.

  • You have DEFIANTLY pleased us! Can’t wait for going there! What IS gonna be open by the time I get there (November 21st)… I hope almost everythingggg!

    • Allie – The area will be open in Preview Phase on Nov. 19. This means that the attractions will be open, but may operate in limited hours.

  • YES Please I’m curious as well! I’ll be there in 8 days and would love to have a peak!!

  • I would LOVE to know the answer to Jared’s question as well. I thought the soft openings were starting on November 19th and the Annual Passholder previews were in the weeks before that. Now I find out that there was a soft opening of New Fantasyland randomly today! Please can you tell us if this area will remain open in the coming days and weeks? I will be in WDW next Wednesday, and would be so happy to get to experiece the area so much sooner than expected.

  • Jen,

The question we’re all wondering is if the new Fantasyland areas will remain open after today’s soft opening. Do you have any insight into that at this point? We all appreciate your honest response. We can handle disappointment — disappointment is better than not knowing.

    Thanks!

    • I’ll look into this. Stay tuned.

  • My family of 15 will be at Disney 11/29-12/8 for my parents 50th Anniversary. Will Gaston’s Tavern be open then? 48 days and counting!

    • Yes, the grand opening is Dec. 6. 🙂

  • Being a fan of Gastonian humor I am looking forward to visiting the new Tavern! Though my 4yr old likes to reminds me that Gaston is a bad guy because he wants to hurt the Beast! 35 days and counting!

    • You’ll have a ball, Michael. 🙂
