Some Lucky New Items at Disney Parks for St. Patrick’s Day

With St. Patrick’s Day only a few days away, here are a few items at Disney Parks that will add some green to your world.
“Lucky

This year, our plush team introduced a new seven-inch plush featuring Mickey Mouse dressed in his finest green attire. The plush was designed by long-time Disney Design Group artist Monty Maldovan.

For women who want to add some green to their wardrobe on March 17, we released a new T-shirt at both Disneyland and Walt Disney World Resorts. There is not an option for men this year. If you are in Florida, I invite you to stop by Disney Design-a-Tee at Downtown Disney Marketplace. They have a few festive options like the shirt pictured below for men.

You may recall my previous article about Duffy the Disney Bear’s new 17-inch outfit (which includes an awesome bow tie!). We also currently have an antenna topper and a beautifully sculpted resin ear hat ornament.

We have some new limited edition pins this year featuring Mickey Mouse and Stitch. One pin uses the “Always Lucky” design also found on the women’s shirt. Both pins have an edition size of 3,000 and were released at Disneyland and Walt Disney World Resorts.

Finally, I included the Vinylmation figure and poster pin designed by Disney Design Group artist Thomas Scott. They were inspired by poster artwork created by Thomas for a 2013 calendar at Disney Parks. While these items do not include the words “St. Patrick’s Day,” I love Donald Duck, whom I consider one lucky duck!

Happy St. Patrick’s Day!

  • We looked and asked all over for a St. Patty hat at Disneyland and couldn’t find one! Came home and still looking for one! Any chance there is one out there? Was hoping Mickey would be in green…no luck there either.

  • Thanks Steven. I wait with baited breath and open wallet. If I can just leave you with one final thought – as much advance notice of a hard street date or parts list this year would be tremendously helpful (not to mention hopefully very newsworthy to both Disney and Star Wars fans alike)! We didn’t have either last year and it was a source of some frustration among some of my peers, a real shame considering how fun the whole conept is. It’s both a great activity and very collectorific all at once and we’d all love a fair shot at participating. 🙂
Thanks so much for passing on our interest to the team. They’re doing great work and we appreciate you being the bridge between us. We look forward to exciting news when you are able to share it. Cheers mate. 🙂

  • Hey, it’s nice to know I’m not the only droid nut out there. 🙂
Good luck with your trip Simon. It sounds like you’re already well versed in how best to secure your needed droid parts, but in case it’s any help to you, based on past experience, I’d suggest you definately try to get down there within a day or two of the parts beind released because last year they sold out of some within a day or two. There’s no way of knowing when the activity station will be restocked. I got very lucky last year, thanks to help from friends, but I have buddies in the collecting community who spent a lot of money and effort coming and going from the park over several months trying to build a full set, only to find certain key parts they needed weren’t available when they visited. It seems to be very popular and run through parts very swiftly. I guess there are lots of kids and other kid-like adults who obsess of little plastic droids the way I/we do. 😀
    Nice to meet another fan!

    • @Daniel and Simon – Thank you for the comments. At this point, I don’t have any news to share. But please stay tuned. Please see this article about the two new Star Wars – Droid Factory locations:

      https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2013/04/star-wars-droid-factory-expands-to-new-locations-at-disney-parks/

I appreciate your passion and I have shared your comments with our toy team. Personally, it’s great to know there is an interest in the Droid Factory. I also loved the concept when it was introduced last year, and my son had a great time making droids.

  • St.Patrick’s Day Duffy is utterly charming. We’re big Duffy fans at my house. And it’s really great to be able to just get the costume to dress Duffy, as shelf space is at a premium around here.

I’ve also been wondering about the Droid Factory, as mentioned in post #8, but until now didn’t know where best to ask the question. So my apologies if this is not the place to ask, but we’re dying to know about Disney’s 2013 plans for the Droid Factory. We were very successful in building all the droids in the two waves last year during our two trips to Tatooine Traders in May and late July. On our third trip, we also went to Star Wars Celebration 6, and at the Disney panel, there was heavy suggestion that there could be new parts this year, and/or that the Droid Factory might also start up in California too. We’re in the midst of booking flights/accommodations for a trip in May for Star Wars Weekends, and we’d make our plans around the release of anything new at the Droid Factory if we could find out in time. Even if an announcement isn’t ready now, it would even be helpful to at least know when any announcement on the subject would be made. And even if there’s not going to be any new parts, it would be helpful to know that asap, because then we could book cheaper flights right away. Regardless, we’ll be at the park a couple of times this summer!

  • Great to see the Disney Stores getting their green on. 🙂 I hope everyone had a fun St Paddy’s day.
Off topic: Steven, I hope you don’t mind me politely prodding again to see if there is any word on the future plans for the Droid Factory activity station at Tatooine Traders in Orlando please? As an astro droid toy collector I am very interested to learn what the plans might be for the build a droid toys. Last year saw the launch of two waves of amazing droid parts, but there had been rumour from the development team that this year we might see some fresh parts added to the mix and possibly even see the activity expand its presense to California as well. With Star Wars weekends fast approaching I have to assume that whatever might happen will occur before then, and it would be awesome to be able to put a purchasing plan into form long before the craziness of those days hits as they quickly ran out of stock last year. 🙂
Any help here would be hot! Thanks in advance mate, from a Disney Droid fan.

  • Hi, I don’t know what to do. My family bought a awesome Kilimanjaro safaris canvas shoulder bag several years ago. It was about $28. That is the best touring bag ever! My whole family wants one. Problem is we can’t find them. Do you still make them and if not are there similar bags to be had?

  • Sure would love to spend the day at Raglan Road. It’s awesome!!!

    • @Beverly – Right on! I would love to join you for that all day celebration. Raglan Road is great!! Happy St. Patrick’s Day!

  • I love how Disney has “stuff” for every occasion.

  • Can we purchase the ornament online? I am desperate for it, my birthday is St. Patty’s day!

    • @Cheryl – The men’s shirt was created at Disney Design-A-Tee. I know they made several of them for the upcoming holiday this weekend (I saw them on a merchandise cart near Fulton’s Crab House the other night at Downtown Disney Marketplace). You may want to try our Merchandise Guest Services team. They may be able to assist. You can find their contact information in this article:

      https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2013/01/answers-to-popular-questions-about-shopping-at-disney-parks/

@Courtney – Here is the item number for the ornament – 400006668073. Unfortunately, it is not being offered on the Disney Parks online store at this point. You may want to try Merchandise Guest Services; their contact information is in the article link above this response.

  • I too would love to order some of the merchandise, especially the men’s St Pats shirt!! The hubby would just love this!! Please advise the merch code I would need to order this (XL if it matters). Thanks!

  • Ha, just clicked the link on the Duffy outfit and see that you can get it via the Disney store online! Thanks for providing the link. Sorry I didn’t see it at first.

    • @Melissa – I’m glad you found the link. Here is the item number for the Mickey Mouse plush – 400006889997.

  • I’d love to be able to get both the Mickey plush and the Duffy outfit. Can we order them via the Merchandise phone line? We’re coming down for spring break, so both items will probably be gone by then. Thanks for sharing the cute merchandise! Love the St. Paddy’s day themed stuff.
