First Look at Star Wars Weekends 2013 Merchandise

I was delighted to see the logo for Star Wars Weekends 2013 as shared by my fellow author Gary Buchanan. He said the artwork gives a nod to the 30th anniversary of “Star Wars: Episode VI Return of the Jedi.” I vividly recall seeing the film in theaters with my parents in May 1983. I was completely obsessed with Star Wars at the time, so I love this poster as it reminds me of my childhood. Disney Design Group artist Tyler Dumas said they had some different poster concepts, like Mickey Mouse in the Rancor pit, before selecting an iconic scene from the Battle of Endor.

Here is a look at some new items with this year’s logo coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios on May 17, 2013.

First Look at Star Wars Weekends 2013 Merchandise at Disney's Hollywood Studios, Including a Disney Pin, a Coffee Mug, a Photo Frame and More

The logo is featured on numerous items including a Disney pin, a coffee mug, a photo frame and more. Disney Design Group also created a unique Star Wars Weekends “title crawl” image for merchandise, which reminds me of the opening title sequences from the Star Wars motion pictures.

First Look at Star Wars Weekends 2013 Merchandise at Disney's Hollywood Studios, Including an Oversized Calendar With 13 Previous Star Wars Weekends Posters

We are trying a few new things this year, like an oversized calendar with 13 previous Star Wars Weekends posters. Each poster measures 12-inches by 18-inches, and can be removed from the calendar for framing. We are also introducing a deluxe autograph and photograph book (I’m adding that to the “long overdue” column). The popular Star Tours nametags using Aurebesh will be returning. This year, we will have a new black name tag for Annual Passholders only!

First Look at Star Wars Weekends 2013 Merchandise Including The Jedi Mickey’s Starfighter

I’m particularly excited about some new toys this year. Jedi Mickey’s Starfighter is amazing (insta-buy)! We will also have new Muppets action figures and new die-cast cars of Disney•Pixar “Cars” characters portraying Star Wars characters. I think the oversized Salacious B. Crumb latex character and the thermal detonator “hot potato” game are perfect for this year’s theme.

Finally, we will have new Vinylmation at this year’s event including a limited release mystery series; a Vinylmation, Jr. series with droids; and two limited edition figures – a removable, 3-inch figure of Han Solo in Carbonite, and a 9-inch Jabba the Hutt figure with a 1.5-inch Salacious B. Crumb figure.

Stay tuned to the Disney Parks Blog, StarWars.com and DisneyWorld.com/StarWarsWeekends for future updates. I can’t wait for May!

  • I love this merchandise. I especially like the “I had friends on that Death Star” pin.

  • Will the Star wars Pressed penny machines still be around for a while and if so were

  • Okay, I lied…want the vinylmation Jabba, and stuff, but Crumb MUST come home with me!!

  • Price on latex Salacious Crumb? ONLY thing I REALLY REALLY want. Be in WDW final Star Wars weekend.

  • Hi Steven,
Thanks for the information, but you didn’t answer my 2nd enquiry about the R2-MK being available seperately.
    Please let me know.
    Spencer?:>}

  • Any idea how much the diecast Pixar Cars will go for? Will there be a set, or just sold individually?

  • Hi!! I was wondering if you know the prices of the new star wars medium big figures of Donald as Boba Fett, Minnie as Padme,….etc. Also, will I be able to order these on-line? I seem to remember in years past, you were able to call in an order and they would be shipped out to you. Thanks!!!

  • We’ll be attending the first weekend this year. We’ve been to Disney many times, but this is the first your for Star Wars Weekends!! We’re very excited!

  • Hi – DO you know if the Star Wars characters will be at Disney Hollywood Studios on June 1, 2013? We were going to go one day that next week – but if they are there on that Saturday, we are going to go then! My son will be so excited!!

    Thanks,
    Cathy

  • Hello Steven,

Can you please show what pins / coins and tshirts that will be at star wars weekends please ? I’m getting really excited and counting down the days 😀

    • @Alberto – I invite you to keep watching http://www.DisneyPins.com as we will be sharing details of the pins (including a framed pin set) very soon. As for the figures, I just photographed three of the four of them. I’ll see about having images added to http://www.DisneyParksMerchandise.com

@Kat – I’m counting down the days as well! I just received final samples of the shirts yesterday. Some really fun designs this year. I’m hoping to photograph them soon and I’ll see what I can do about sharing the images in the coming weeks. I can say that one shirt features the Star Wars Weekend crawl image at the top of this article.

  • Hello Steven, do you have any info or pictures for any of the individual pins that will be released and will there be a pin framed set this year? You also mention earlier there will be four new Medium size Figs, any pictures of them? Thanks

  • Hi Steven – Thank you for your posts. I was wondering if there is a complete item/price list available? I’ve been pieceing together what you have posted, but one list would be very helpful in planning my purchases. Thanks again!

    • @Nick – We typically haven’t published a complete list of retails and items as there are a lot that is featured in Darth’s Mall. Sorry that I can’t be of more help at this point. I invite you to come by the merchandise location during the weekend events and Cast Members would be delighted to help you.

  • I was wondering Steven if Mickey’s Jedi Starfighter will come with a space filler since R2-Mk is obviously too tall.

Also will R2-MK be sold separately in addition to being boxed? ‘Cause I need 15 for potential customs.

    • @Spencer – The Starfighter comes with an R2-MK figure. I asked Cody about the space filler droid you mentioned. He showed me the other Starfighter that inspired Mickey’s ship. He said that he considered doing a space filler droid (which is like half a droid) but decided to package an actual figure instead. R2-MK is slightly taller than the other space filler droid but you can hardly tell. Other droids from the Star Wars Droid Factory at Walt Disney World and Disneyland will fit in that spot too.

  • Hello!
I was wondering if you knew the price of Mickey’s Starfighter?
    Thanks!

    • @Sean – The Jedi Mickey Starfighter has a retail of $34.95 and the item number is 400007495487.

  • Thank you for the updates! Quick question re the Vinylmation… how many chasers will there be for this series? Two like the first series or one like the second series? Can’t wait to go!

    • @Kristy – I don’t know of any specific plans for what you mention.

@Karen – I’m guessing you mean the limited release mystery series. We aren’t ready to share all the details regarding this series just yet. So please stay tuned to http://www.DisneyParksMerchandise.com/Vinylmation

  • So excited about these new Star Wars Vinyls and more

  • I would love to see muppets star wars plush and the muppets as the main feature in the star wars weekends merchandise. Do you think this is a possibility in the future?

  • HI Steven
I’m really interested in the Jedi Mickey’s Starfighter and the Thermal Detonator Game with the young grandson having a birthday just after Star Wars Weekends is there and possibility for the price and Sku’s on those?
    Please and thank you.

    • @Amanda – I can say that some of the items, like the Disney-Pixar die cast cars, Jedi Mickey’s Starfighter and others, are debuting at Star Wars Weekends. You may find them after the event. As for the logo product, it will depend upon Guest demand. Those items typically aren’t re-ordered or carried beyond the events.

@Crystal – I have the item number and retail for the Thermal Detonator game – 400007478480 / $24.95. I will have to check on the Jedi Mickey Starfighter next week. The retail for the Starfighter is $34.95 and the item number is 400007495487.

  • Will these items only be available during the Star Wars Weekends, or will there be some available later in the summer, say 3rd week of August?

  • Oh and will there be new droid parts debuting for the Droid Factory this year at SW Weekends?

    • @Sam – There will be a new packaged set – Sarlacc Attack – that features five previously released characters. The packaging and scene look great – very fitting for the 30th Anniversary of “Star Wars: Episode VI Return of the Jedi.”

At this point, there are no new droid parts coming to the Droid Factory for Star Wars Weekends. Cody from the toy team said that the R2-MK droid that comes with Jedi Mickey’s Starfighter is compatible with the Droid Factory. In other words, you can interchange parts.

  • Hi Steven – Will there be more Disney characters as Star Wars characters released this year along with the 1983 limited edition of Mickey and Chip & Dale?

  • The oversized latex Salacious Crumb looks amazing! What will the retail price and dimensions be on this piece?

    • @Chadwick and Jared – I agree! The figure looks amazing. The details on him are exceptional. He will retail for $34.95 (note all retails are subject to change without notice). The pillow measures 10″ by 10″ and the figure measures about 14″ tall (I measured him sitting on the pillow if that makes sense). His legs actually make him a little longer.

  • Steven, do you have the price for the Salacious Crumb statue yet?

  • Steven,

Will there be any new Grand Jester busts, such as the Yoda Stitch from last year? Or framed coin sets?

    • @Tom – In addition to four medium figs, we will have one bust of Mickey Mouse as Anakin Skywalker. I didn’t see a framed coin set but I know there is a carded coin for Annual Passholders.

  • Can you tell me all the dates for the starwars weekends and can you purchase the limited edition Disney starwars merchandise from the uk?

  • Will any of these Vinylmation’s be heading to Disneyland Paris?

    • @Roger – The limited release mystery series and the Vinylmation, Jr. series will also be released at Disneyland Paris. The Jabba the Hutt set and Han Solo in Carbonite will only be carried at Walt Disney World and Disneyland Resorts.

  • Hey steven! Do you know if any of these items might be available on the online disney store? Thanks so much!

  • Steven,
Are all the vinyls and merchandise you listed above going to be out on May 17th at Disneyland Dstreet? And what items are just exclusive to SWW and not available at DLR?

  • OMG! Love it all!

  • Steven,
Very excited about the Cars Star Wars die-cast cars! Will these be available online or through guest services after SW Weekends? Thanks!

    • @Michael – Sorry that you won’t be able to attend. Unfortunately, Star Wars Weekends and other Star Wars related merchandise won’t be offered on our Disney Parks online store. Here is the item number for the latex character – 400007507500. Our Merchandise Guests Services team may be able to assist following the conclusion of Star Wars Weekends in June.

@Frank – These items will be introduced during Star Wars Weekends. The plan is to carry them beyond the event at both Walt Disney World and Disneyland Resorts. They won’t be offered online. I don’t have item numbers for them yet but our Merchandise Guests Services team may be able to help you once released.

  • Steven,

Is there any way the oversized latex Salacious Crumb can be purchased online? I wont be able to attend Star Wars Weekends this year. 🙁 Thanks

  • Hi Steven!!!

Hope all is well! What exciting news – thanks for the updates – between this and the Villains Event later this year – we are in trouble – LOL

also, if there is ANY way you might be able to help, by chance do you know if there will be any PTN/Vinylmation WDW events coming soon? We were suppose to it in Feb and then moved to March and now March is ending – any chance for April? Or if you are not with this team anymore, any email or number we can contact to find out? So many of us miss it and are excited to plan if there is one 🙂

    As ALWAYS! Thank you 🙂

    Dana/FL

    • @Dana – Glad to hear from you. I trust all is well. You are correct that I’m not with the Disney Trading team like I was in previous years. Unfortunately, I don’t have any updates about trading nights for Walt Disney World. I know the Merchandise Events team is actively looking at options, but I have no confirmation on plans.

I did receive information today from the Merchandise Events team in Califorina that their next Disney Trading Night will take place on May 10th from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the Pacific Ballroom in Disney’s Paradise Pier Hotel.

Your best option would be to keep watching our official Disney Theme Park Merchandise website – http://www.DisneyParksMerchandise.com – as we will share merchandise event information on that site as soon as it’s known.

  • How limited in edition size are the plushes? I will be at WDW from May 30 to June 4 and am hoping to have a chance to purchase the Chip and Dale plushes. Will those be long gone by then? Also is the merchandise only for sale on the weekend or is it all week long?

    • @Natalie – The Mickey Mouse plush is limited release. The Chip and Dale plush are being introduced at Star Wars Weekends but will live on beyond the event. The merchandise is typically found in Darth’s Mall during Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. You may also find select items at Disney’s Hollywood Studios during the weekdays. It’s difficult to say right now how quickly these items will sell. Yet they are pretty adorable, especially Chip and Dale.

  • Steven: Does the black passholder name tag cost anything? How do I obtain one at the event?

    • @Amanda – That’s wonderful! I’m so happy to hear you will be in town. I hope to see you during the weekends.

@Kristy – The Annual Passholder nametags have a retail of $9.95 each and will be sold inside Darth’s Mall, the is the themed merchandise location near Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith and the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror. Passholders will need to present a valid Annual Pass at the time of purchase.

The green nametags will also be offered in that same location.

  • So excited right now!!! I booked our trip two days ago for the first weekend of Star Wars Weekends. As often as we have been, we have never been there during this event. Not only will this be a first, we also are staying as close as we can by staying at the Boardwalk. I can’t wait to see all the new merchandise, see the characters and just be in Star Wars heaven. Keep up with the updates!

  • I’ve heard that they sold out of a lot of things by the third week and certainly the 4th… do you anticipate the same sort of issues this year do you think? I see some cute things I would like, and hope they aren’t too short in supply (calendar, nametag & R2D2 with Mickey ears!)

    • @Shanna – I think someone once said, “Difficult to see. Always in motion is the future.” 🙂 We base many decisions on historic sales record. At this point, it’s difficult to say how quickly things will sell. I know our planning teams have lots of experience with this event. Our goal is to have items available throughout the four weekends. Yet, there are some limited edition items and other things that, due to popularity with Guests, will sell out quickly.

  • Are those window decals below the autograph book? I would love something like that!

    • @Jennifer – They are window decals that will be sold in a four-pack. There will also be a window decal featuring the main logo.

  • You’re killing me, Steve! I can’t handle this kind of anticipation! lol

  • Obviously excluding the merchandise that says “Star Wars Weekends” would any of the items make there way to Disneyland? The Carbonite Han Solo vinylmation, plush toys, etc?

  • Wow, lots of great stuff! Can’t wait to be broke in a few months. Finally some droids I AM looking for!

    • @Jennifer – [Waves hand] These aren’t the droids you are looking for. You can go about your business. Move along. 🙂

  • awesome, love the Mickey in starfighter! But no Clone Wars stuff? 🙁

  • Do you know the prices yet for the calendar and muppets star wars? Just to verify, will the new muppets star wars figures actually be available fo rpurchase on May 17th, or will they only be on display (like the new set last year with scooter and link)? Thanks so much!

    • @Kristy – The retail for the calendar is $24.95 and the item number is 400007319127.

The new figures will be released on May 17. The Bean Bunny figure is limited release and has a retail of $14.95.

The Uncle Deadly and Gonzo set has a retail of $19.95.

The Mickey Mouse with Chip and Dale set will be a limited edition of 1,983 and have a retail of $14.95. Each box will be individually numbered.

  • Any word on the Carbon Freeze Me returning? I was hoping it would be a yay or nay one way or another when this hit but not seeing anything either way here.

    • @Kerry – Great question. Please stay tuned!

  • Do you know if there will be any new Big Fig’s this year? When we were there last year they had said that there were going to be 4 new ones for 2013, but I haven’t seen anything further.

Thanks! The new merch looks great!

    • @Jonathan – There will be four new medium figs this year (similar size to last year). There will be Minnie Mouse as Queen Amidala, Donald Duck as Boba Fett, Stitch as Yoda and Goofy as C-3PO. The collectibles team said they should be available for the start of Star Wars Weekends in May.

  • I love the Muppet Star Wars line. I am so glad they have decided to continue it. I hope we’ll see even more at the event!

  • Oh. They’ve encased him in Carbonite. He should be quite well protected. If he survived the freezing process, that is. I must have that piece. The rest is quite neat too!

    • @Sean – The figures turned out great! The artwork really pops! Maria Clapsis designed the Han Solo in Carbonite figure. It has an edition size of 2,000. The Jabba the Hutt figure was designed by Casey Jones and has an edition size of 1,000.
